Bless God! by Wesley Smith Immediately after the 9/11 attack the media did a very quick 180-degree turnabout, and amazingly it was politically correct to show scenes of dedicated, tough firemen and police officers kneeling, praying, and weeping. Nationally, we even had a Day of Prayer and Remembrance (CBS quickly changed it to Day of Remembrance). Many of us almost went into shock as we observed such a dramatic change. A mere four months later (January 15) a little five-year-old girl came home from the Dorothy Nolan Elementary School Kindergarten (Wilton, NY) in tears. When her mother asked her what was wrong she answered, "They told me not to pray at mealtime anymore!" Can you imagine how you would feel as a parent, as an American, if your child came home from school and told you that? Condoms are O.K., drugs are O.K., guns are O.K., cursing is O.K.- but whatever you do, don't let a little girl dare to pray before she eats her lunch. And if her friends happen to join her, then we have a real travesty! Several California schools are now teaching the Koran as part of the curriculum. The Bible is out, but the Koran is in. Muslims are allowed to roll out the prayer carpets and chant, "Allah is great." Suddenly, after the Twin Towers were destroyed and thousands of innocent people were murdered, we want to make sure that we don't offend any Muslim people. How about how deeply American widows were hurt September 11? Why don't the liberals ever mention us- the majority of Americans? We Americans are the ones who were offended! In every city and town across America flags are flown and banners proclaim "God Bless America". Our brave young men are dying on foreign soil in Afghanistan. It is time to pray! It is time to be Americans! God bless little Kayla Broadus and the parents who raised her. They represent the Real America that is now forced to sit in the back of the bus by the "politically correct crowd" and keep their mouths shut. Thousands, no millions, of us out here support you, Cheryl Broadus, for suing to protect the right for little Kayla to say her prayers at school. Our forefathers came to this country so that they could have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Strange, isn't it that teachers in the public school system can take a class outside, encircle a tree, hold hands, and pray to "gods" (naming them) of mother earth, and nothing is ever said about it? But the moment a little kindergartner says grace before her meal she is told to keep her mouth shut. The religion of nature worship is in, Christianity is out. Islam is in, Christianity is out.
