| The Truth about Islam by Wesley Smith Islam was founded in Arabia by Muhammad between 610 and 632. There are about 5.5 million Muslims in North America and more than 1 billion Muslims worldwide. Islam means submission to God‚s will. A Moslem is one who submits. Members of the Islam religion are called Muslims. The source book of the Muslims is, of course, the Qur‚an (Koran), which they regard as the uncreated, eternal Word of God. Amazingly enough, Muhammad did not write one word of the Koran; it was written by his followers shortly after his death. When Muhammad was 25 years old he married a wealthy widow named Khadiji. She was a great encouragement to him in his early years. Muhammad was from the Quraysh tribe in Medina, but he began to question their lax moral standards and polytheistic practices. Going into the desert to meditate he began to have some extraordinary revelations. Something supernatural was happening to him. The first four times that he had these "visitations", he returned to tell Khadiji and his friends that Satan was speaking to him. He was sure of it. But finally his friends and his wife persuaded him that the angel Gabriel was bringing him God‚s Word. This was the beginning and heart and soul of Islam. First it was Satan speaking to him˜then it was an angel from God˜not a very firm foundation on which to build a religion. The very founder of Islam flip-flopped in his thinking--first it was the Devil giving him the information, then it was God. If the founder was unsure, how could anyone else be sure? Once his friends convinced him that Gabriel was revealing ideas to him, he began to teach and preach his new-found religion in Mecca. He was not honored there and he had to flee Mecca for his life. He moved to Medina and gained a large number of followers. With these followers he returned to Mecca and forced his beliefs upon them through several military conflicts (terrorism). Finally, in 630 he marched on Mecca and conquered it˜so the birth of Islam. Muhammad died two years later in Mecca (located in modern Saudi Arabia), and his grave there has since been a place of pilgrimage for all Muslims. This pilgrimage is called The Haj. Islam has never been a peaceful religion! It began with a reign of terror and it has continued to this present day to bring torture, rape, suppression, and murder everywhere it has become dominant. There is not one Islam nation that is democratic. Every one is a dictatorship. "We are a people living in hate, despair, and darkness!" so says a leading Muslim, making a reference to his Arab people and his religion. But not many Arab people are willing to speak their true feelings. Those who do often disappear or are found a few days later in the main street of their city with obvious marks of torture on their dead body and a shoe in their mouth. The symbolism is obvious: keep your mouth shut and your thoughts to yourself. In Ramallah a young 14 year-old student asked the age old question: "How can Abraham be our spiritual father and be a Muslim when he lived 2,500 years before Muhammad was even born?" His teacher responded, "I will answer your question. Come to the front of the class." When the young boy came up to the teacher‚s desk he was thrown down and his pants were jerked down˜all of this in front of the other students. The teacher then began beating him with a stiff rod until he almost passed out. "Now go back to your seat," he was ordered, "You have your answer!" What kind of an impression do you think this would make upon the mind and emotion of a young inquiring student? And what did the rest of the students in that classroom learn that day? They learned the exact lesson that millions of Islam people have learned: "Don‚t ask questions, don‚t think, and keep your mouth shut." There are now more than one billion people who have "submitted to Allah‚s will". At first glance we might ask how so many people could believe in Islam and the Koran. Digging a bit further into the culture of the Arab people and reading the history of bloodshed, tribal vengeance, the mojahedeen (The Warriors of God), etc., etc., we find a clear answer. "If you have 100 Arab friends, throw out 99 of them and be suspicious of the one." so says an Arab sage. All Arabs know what Kaif is: "Do nothing, say nothing, think nothing." Ask one of your Arab friends, he will tell you about Kaif. Arab fighting Arab is an established way of life, hundreds and hundreds of years old. One of the times I was in Israel I asked an Arab man this question: "There are more than 200 million Arabs surrounding Israel, and only about 6 million Jewish people. Why have you not been able to wipe Israel off the face of the map?" His answer astounded me at the time: "We hate each other more than we hate the Jews!" Another tid-bit of historical fact: In 1977 the Jordanians massacred more than 10,000 Palestinians, and it barely made the news (Arab killing Arab). Jordan refused to allow them to live within the borders of its country, even though they knew that there was plenty of room. The main reason Jordan would not let them in: Arabs everywhere want to perpetuate the Jewish/Palestinian problem. Amazing that Arabs control 550 times as much land as Israel, but pressure the Jews to make room for the Palestinians. No Arab nation ever considers itself bound by a signed treaty! The reason for this is found in their culture and their religion. Islam is based upon a lie and the result of this has been internal lying. Ask any Arab about Majnun! He will tell you that this is the jinn (evil spirit) that makes Arabs crazy. So no matter how many surahs (chapters) in the Koran are memorized, nothing changes from century to century. Did you know that Arabs lived in Palestine for centuries without roads, indoor toilets, running water, hospitals, libraries, and schools? What has kept these people trampled down? It is not that they are not intelligent. Those who have broken away from the cult of Islam have excelled in many areas of academia. In Leon Uris‚ book, The Haj, Colonel Brompton exclaimed, "Strange, isn‚t it, that we Jews are once again stuck with a dirty job no one else wants? You and all your snide friends in all the foreign offices know in your hearts the cruelty, the evil that emanates from the Moslem world. But you are afraid to hold Islam up to the light and tell your people, ŒLook, this is what we have to live with.‚ No, let the Jews do it. We once again man the barricades alone, berated by our smug, so-called allies of the Western democracies. Islam is going to turn this world upside down before this century is out and you‚d better have enough guts to deal with it." With the events of 9/11 behind us these words were surely prophetic! The "politically-correct" crowd that is so afraid of offending anyone who is not a Christian has tried to convince us that Islam is a peaceful religion. This is definitely a no-brainer! Any person who makes such a statement is either deliberately lying or else totally ignorant of history˜and even of current events. How can anyone proclaim Islam as being "peaceful" when it is common knowledge that every infidel (all non-Muslims) is worthy of being tortured, raped, and murdered. Does this sound peaceful to you? Does it sound like a credible religion to believe that Muhammad rode his mythical horse, el-Buraq, to heaven? The ascension of Jesus Christ is a credible truth, having been witnessed by more than 500 people. The copy-cat ascension of Muhammad is beyond acceptance by any thinking person. And did you know that el-Buraq had the head of a woman, the body of a mule, and the tail of a peacock? If you believe that, then we have some swampland and a bridge to sell you down in the bayous of Louisiana! These are the simple facts of Islam. It is heart-breaking to realize that more than one billion of earth‚s population is caught up in this death trap and can never get out without the help of the Holy Spirit of God. It is high time that we Christians not only pray for these people, but speak out the Truth to them that will set them free. We are not the least bit interested in being politically correct. The hour is too late for that. And there is way too much at stake. These are the very last days, and what we need to do we must do quickly. Time is running out. God has promised that in the last days He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. This includes the Arab world and Muslims everywhere. Many Chinese believers are traveling west on the Silk Road preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ as they go. They are convinced that the next great outpouring of God‚s revelation Truth through the Holy Sprit will be upon the Buddhist and Muslim people. They believe that the Holy Spirit is encircling the earth and will ultimately return again to Jerusalem, finally bringing revelation light to the Jews that Jesus is Messiah! If only every professed Christian on earth believed the gospel with the earnestness and honesty of the Chinese! Our apathy has allowed Islam to grow into a giant that can only be overcome by a "David" who will hurl the small rock of Truth to its forehead. We must pray that the minds of millions of Muslims will respond to information like you have read in this article. How true are the words of Jesus Christ: "You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!" The World Trade Centers might still be standing if someone would have befriended Atta and his terrorist cohorts, and revealed to them the real truth about Islam, the origins of Muhammad, and the bloody history of its past. We need to not only tell the truth about Islam, but we must offer in its place the wonderful love of God˜so much the opposite of Islam˜and the truth about Jesus Christ, who is God‚s Son, and God indeed. "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father!" declared Jesus. "No man comes to the Father except through me!" Are there many ways to God, as the politically correct gang wants us to believe? The real Truth is that there is only one way to God, and that is through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Just think of the logic of this. If God knew that there were many avenues through which man could find Him, then it was the biggest mistake anyone has ever made for Him to send His only Son to this earth to die on Calvary‚s Cross! Either Jesus is the only way, or God is the biggest fool who has ever existed! Sincerity is not enough. You can be sincere and still fall to your death if you jump off a cliff. Being sincere won‚t change the basic laws of gravity. In the spiritual realm there are also basic laws that exist. God is love! He loved the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son into this world. If we choose to believe in Him we will have eternal life and the love of God will be shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Use your mind! Think! Don‚t be controlled by your emotions: Would you rather choose a "religion" that ruled by torture, rape, intimidation, and murder, or would you choose a religion that teaches us to love our fellow man and receive love from God? One religion offers terror, death, hatred, and mistrust! Muhammad killed to force his religion on the inhabitants of Mecca. Jesus died that we might have life! What a difference, Hatred˜Love. What a choice! The main thing that sets Christianity apart from all other religions: Jesus rose from the dead! There is not a cult or religion anywhere in the world that makes such a claim, because no other religion or cult can make such a claim. Jesus Christ promised to return to this earth again. He will keep His promise. And when He comes He will institute perfect peace on earth, good will toward men. In place of terror and terrorism the lamb will lie down with the lion.
