Tsunami

For many years I have taught God’s people about tsunamis, and to expect them as part of the end-time scenario.  I gave a very clear message on this topic in Beijing, China.  A few days later a very powerful earthquake shook that nation.  So the people that I have spoken to about this subject know that it is a clear sign of the end times.

I believe that the death toll will surpass 160,000 people.  In very remote areas entire beachfront villages have disappeared, without one human left alive to tell the story.  At least five million people lack clean water, food, medicine, shelter, and sanitation.

I’m sure that everyone has read about the recent tsunami.  But just in case you do not know the definition of a tsunami (pronounced, soo-na-me): It is two Japanese words that literally mean “harbor wave”.  This type of wave is caused by either an earthquake deep within the ocean floor, an underwater volcanic eruption, or an earth slide.

The force of the earthquake literally moves millions and millions of tons of water.  This displaced water has to go somewhere.  The place of least resistance is the surface.  So a huge wave is created.  Ships on the water do not even realize that a tsunami has been created just beneath them, and sail onward without a care in the world.  It is only when the tsunami approaches land that it is noticeable.

The wave travels as fast as a jet aircraft—500mph and upwards!  As it approaches land it slows down, but the energy goes into the height of the wave and it becomes huge.  The only warning for those on the beach is that just moments before the wave crashes on the shore the water recedes abnormally.  It is at this time that unsuspecting people walk far out on the sand to pick up fish or relics that they see lying there.  Usually these people are the first victims.

Even a small wave is very powerful.  But a tsunami is powerful enough to move houses, concrete, cars, trucks, and buses, tossing them like small toys before the force of nature.  Can you imagine seeing a wall of water coming towards you at 500 mph?

Jesus has told us not to be terrified (Luke 21:9), because there will be wars (Iraq) and commotions (terrorists).  He said that these things would take place just before He returned to planet earth.  He told us about famines (Sudan), pestilences (AIDS in Africa), fearful sights, and great signs from heaven.

He said that the earthquakes would be in “divers” places (Luke 21:11).  We know that the word “divers” means “various”.  He has told us ahead of time that the earthquakes would be in “various” places around the world.

But isn’t it interesting that the modern word for “divers” refers to men who swim under the water.  Looking at this verse from the modern perspective He has told us that the earthquakes will be beneath the oceans.  And this is exactly what causes tsunamis.

Amazing that when we look closely at the Scriptures Jesus has told us ahead of time about tsunamis appearing just before He returns!

One of the “experts” being interviewed on television was telling the audience that an underwater earthquake could “not take place in the Atlantic Ocean”, and for us not to worry about the East Coast of the United States being buried by a tsunami.

As soon as he said that it was just like the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, “Little do you know!”

Psalm 114:7: “Tremble thou earth at the presence of the Lord”

You might also want to read Job 9:6; Joel 2:10; and Psalm 60:2.

This recent natural phenomenon certainly has the attention of everyone in the world.  We now know how powerful Almighty God is, and He can do anything that He wants to do anytime that He wants to do it.  He is sending clear “signs” to the people on planet earth of His existence.  How many will heed the warnings?

The first thing the news media attempts to do is explain this from a “scientific” point of view.  But there is no scientist anywhere who knows what causes an earthquake or what makes your heart to beat each time that it pumps life-giving blood to your body.

As God’s people we explain it simply with one word: Yahweh!

Jesus’ return to earth is imminent.  Watch for more of His “signs” and do your best to hear His voice and obey it each day.  This is exactly what we are attempting to do here at Full Life Crusade:  Hear His voice and obey it!

Does anything else matter except for us to do what He tells us to do from day to day?  When we hear and obey, then what we do has eternal consequences.  When we merely do our own thing we waste our lives.

The next major thing in Jesus’ prediction is the persecution of His people. He declares that we will be taken to prisons, churches, before kings and rulers.  It is very interesting to compare the demons being unleashed in the book of Revelation with the time in which we are now living.

The angel told Daniel that on the first day he prayed the answer was sent from heaven.  But it took the angel three weeks to get to Daniel.  He had a mighty battle in the heavenlies with the prince of Persia.  This “prince” withstood him for 21 days.  He was finally “helped” by Michael, one of the chief princes, and then he was able to break through and get to Daniel with the heavenly message.

The Prince of Persia has not died!  These spirits are eternal.  There is still a “Prince of Persia”, and “Persia” is modern-day Iraq!  The forces that our soldiers are dealing with are demonic, and that is why it is almost impossible to bring peace to Iraq.

Several thousand years have gone by since Daniel prayed and the forces of darkness attempted to hinder God’s answer to him (Daniel 11:13-14).  But these evil principalities and powers over nations still exist.  So . . . if you have ever prayed for our nation, do it now.  I honestly believe that the forces of darkness can never be defeated by military might.  There are not enough bullets and bombs available to beat them into submission—if it is even possible to do it with conventional warfare.

But we do have weapons that will work and bring about victory!  “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God” (2 Cor.10:4).  Three of the most powerful weapons we have are prayer, fasting, and studying God’s Word.  Many churches have closed their doors on Wednesday evenings when they should be praying.  It is almost unheard of for a pastor to “call a fast” for his congregation anymore.  Many pastors are afraid that if they insist on a prayer meeting or call a fast that the church will empty out and he won’t have anyone to preach to anymore—neither will he have a salary!

But this is what we need at this hour.  We need to be praying about the situation in Iraq.  We should be seeking God with all of our hearts, like Daniel did.  And notice, Daniel was not rebuking and binding evil spirits!  He was confessing his sins and the sins of his people.  He was mourning.  He was afflicting himself (Daniel 10:2-3).  After three weeks of this the angel broke through with the message—God’s answer.

We are at the end of time.  Jesus will return soon.  We must be about our Father’s business.  I know that it is a very trite and over-used quote, but it is still true: “Only what is done for Christ will last!”

Thank you once again for your help with the outreaches of Full Life Crusade.  May God richly bless you for sharing your offerings with this ministry.  And may He give you a blessed year in 2005!
